Academics

At Manzanita Community we believe that the social and emotional development of our students is at the core of strong academic performance. We focus on educating the whole child by providing diverse resources to our students and families to support their academic and social-emotional needs. When children feel part of their school they develop trust and caring relationships that foster community building and a positive school climate. A positive school climate provides a learning environment that allows for focused and rigorous academic instruction.

  • Biweekly Garden classes 
  • Aikido lessons through the Destiny Arts program for 3rd-5th
  • Weekly library visits to our school library
  • SIPPS groups for struggling readers
  • Physical Education classes
  • Daily after-school program through EBAYC offering academic support and extensive enrichment program (art, sports, and dance) for our students
  • Positive Behavior Incentive Systems (PBIS), conflict resolution, restorative justice practices and socio-emotional learning (SEL) built into classroom curriculum; with support from our school social worker, speech therapist, and psychologist
